Robert Frost wrote ‘The Road Not Taken’ as a joke for a friend the poet Edward Thomas.
The poem depicts the agony of decision making and the rewards of forging your own path. He say he took the road less travelled and that made all the difference.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had throdden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day
Yet know how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere in the ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood, and
I took the one less traveled by
And that made all the difference.

You may shoot me with your words
you may cut me with your eyes
you may kill me with your hatefulness
but still like air, i’ll rise
does my sexiness offend you
does it come as a surprise
that i dance like i’ve got diamonds
at the meeting of my thighs
out of the huts of historys shame
i rise
up from a past that’s rooted in pain
i rise
i’m a black ocean, leaping and wide
welling and swelling i bear in the tide
leaving behind nights of terror and fear
i rise
into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
i rise
bringing the gifts that my ancestors give
i am the dream and hope of the slave
i rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still like dust i’ll rise
Does my sassiness upset you
Why are you beset with gloom
Cause i walk like i’ve got oil wells
Pumping in my living room
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainity of tides
Just like hopes springing high,
Still i’ll rise
Did you want to see me broken
Bowed head and lowered eyes
Shoulders falling down like teardrops
Weakened by my soulful cries
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Dont you like it awful hard
Cause i laugh like i’ve got gold mines
Digging in my own backyard

“We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated.” Maya Angelou. Looking out through the window in my room, I can see a little girl who is trying to take her first step. The little girl keeps falling down but without fail she stands again to try again. Alone in the garden she tries to walk only to fall again. Yet the little girl refuses to be defeated, she rises at every fall to try again. After several attempts the little girl takes her first step right before my eyes with no one to cheer her. After encountering several defeats in her attempt to walk, she succeeds.

2016 is no doubt going to be a year full of surprises. Economists have predicted that the economy of the world is going to decline even further but still countless millionaires are going to be made. To be among the millionaires of this year, you have to get prepared for the year. I have compiled a list of books that would prepare you for the oppurtunities this year.
1. Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
2. The Richest Man in Babylon – George S. Clason
3. The 7 habits of highly effective people – Steven Covey
4. How to win Friends and influence people- Dale Carnegie
5. Acres of Diamond – Russell Conwell
6. Black Business Secret – Dante Lee
7. The Millionaire Next Door – Thomas Stanley
8. The Science of getting Rich – Wallace Wattle
9. As a man thinketh- James Allen
10. 7 strategies for wealth and happiness – Jim Rohn

With a new year comes new oppurtunities and strength but these blessings are only for those who are ready, willing and able to follow the principles that govern success.
When a new year starts it brings with it the oppurtunity to start afresh. The year 2015 has undoubtedly been tough and trying year but now we have a chance to begin afresh.
For the year 2016 to be different and better year you need to observe the principles of success.
It would be prudent of you to make a list of the things you wish to achieve this year. Write the steps you intend to take to achieve these goals and attach a time frame to each goal. You can make a list between 3 – 7 goals for the year.
Place this list somewhere you would see it daily and remember it. Live your life by these goals and the steps to achieve them. It certainly would not be easy but remember nothing worthwile is easy.
Peradventure you were not able to achieve a goal within the set time frame, do not fret. You might have lost a battle, but you still have a war to win.
At the end of the year you may not have achieved all your goals. While you may not be where you want to be, you certainly wouldn’t be where you used to be.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
